Phi Beta Kappa Visits Atlanta

By Ann McCulloch

Fred Lawrence is traveling around the country as he settles into his new role as Phi Beta Kappa Secretary. A recent trip took him to Atlanta on September 20-22, where he met with representatives of Agnes Scott College, Emory University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College. Each chapter welcomed Fred to their campus and shared its unique history as well as plans for the future, including a special 50th anniversary year for the Morehouse chapter.

Additionally, the Atlanta Alumni Association hosted a dinner at the home of Phi Beta Kappa member Linda Hubert (Agnes Scott College, 1995). Guests discussed the need to grow the association, involve more young professionals, take advantage of Atlanta’s thriving arts and sciences culture, and offer Atlanta Phi Beta Kappa members an intellectual home.

We encourage all Phi Beta Kappa members in the Atlanta area to stay in touch with the association and local chapters, participate in upcoming events, and lend a hand with area Phi Beta Kappa organizations. You will be glad that you did! Contact Ann McCulloch at amcculloch@pbk.org for more information.

Over the next several months, Fred will visit many more chapters and associations. Make sure we have your current email address by contacting support@pbk.org so that we can keep you posted about Fred’s visits and other events near you.
